Greetings visitors, distant relations, and well wishers!
We are thrilled to welcome you to the beginning of our adventure creating a unique short-term rental experience unlike any other. Nestled in the Blue Ridge Mountains lies the start of Underhill Hollow, inspired by the Shire.
Our vision is simple: take something we love, and share it with others who will enjoy it. We want to create a place that stirs the whimsical and wonder in each of you.
Since the house is still under construction, with an opening date of TBD 2025, this blog will be where we can share behind the scenes glimpses into the building process, insights into the unique features we’re including the house, and stories about how this dream came to life.
Journey with us as we figure out how to make an obscenely large round front door, design windows from scratch and work with manufacturers, and nail down that 1800s English oak vibe!
Building this home is more than building, it’s about crafting a space that brings the Shire alive.
Whether you’re a lifelong fan of Tolkien’s work, or just somebody who’s into one-of-a-kind getaways, we hope our journey and eventually Underhill Hollow itself will bring you joy.
